The “Gran Cru” bars of torrone were born after a long and meticulous research of the best raw materials and a series of tests that have lead to an excellent quality result. We studied and drew inspiration from different cultures and philosophies of artisan torrone production.

Hazeltnut crumbly torrone bar

This type of torrone is traditionally more near us. First of all it is crumbly as required by the Piedmontese tradition. Hazelnuts from the area of Mombercelli d’Asti (where the Barbero company was founded in 1883) have been mixed with acacia honey from Masio. In comparison to our traditional recipe, we have replaced “Millefiori” honey and removed glucose. As flavouring we used natural vanilla from Madagascar.

Almond soft torrone bar

This type is inspired by the southern way of producing torrone, using different raw materials coming from the Campania region and Sicily. We combined pizzute almonds from Noto (60%), with Sorrento lemon honey produced by the “Miele d’Angelo” company and with Amalfi lemon skin peel to keep product humidity. As flavouring we used essential lemon oil and natural vanilla from Madagascar.

Pistachio soft torrone bar

This type is the most exotic, it is clearly inspired by the Sicilian torrone with raw materials all coming from Sicily: green Bronte pistachios (60%), Etna orange honey, Sicilian orange skin peel. As flavouring we used essential orange oil and natural vanilla from Madagascar.

Crumbly torrone bar

Handcrafted crumbly torrone with hand selected hazelnuts made according to an original recipe which dates back from 1883. It is made of egg whites and is steamed for about 7 hours, shaped, hand-cut and cooled on marble tables for one day.

Baci di dama (lady’s kisses)

The Lady’s Kisses are a typical product of Tortona, Langhe and Monferrato and they were legendarily born from the imagination and the brilliance of the cook of the Court of Savoy who found himself to meet the request of the King Vittorio Emanuele II who wanted to taste a new and particular dessert.
Two tasty butter cookies that come together, just like in a warm kiss tasting of dark chocolate: that’s what Lady’s kisses are! Brothers’s Panzini reproduce the royal recipe in a new variant: the Lady’s kisses without flour.

Paste di meliga (maize biscuits)

The maize biscuits are a typical Piemontese cookie.
Born out of necessity in a past when the wheat harvest was scarce and very expensive, the maize biscuits, made of corn and wheat flour mixed, are now a “slow food” product of high excellence.
Today, brothers’ Panzini modify an old, homemade and farming recipe adding to the corn flour the finest hazelnut one: a classic biscuit with a new intense flavour.

Brutti e Buoni (ugly but tasty)

The“brut ma bun” is a traditional Piedmontese biscuit with its unmistakable irregular shape, that was invented in 1878. This dessert was the favourite of the poet Giousuè Carducci, the composer Giuseppe Verdi and Queen Elena of Savoy. Brothers Panzini give their best with this crunchy and tasty biscuit that smells of hazelnuts.

D. Barbero’s Torronfette ® were born in the late ‘50s. At the beginning they were just the remaining part after the process of cutting nougat, then this new and thin product became soon a great success thanks to its wonderful taste and its easiness to eat. Now, for the first time we present “The Torronfetta” : one single thin slice of nougat that you can enjoy during a relaxing moment with a good glass of Moscato or with a sweet meditation wine. Crumbly nougat by D. Barbero is still produced according to the old recipe of Asti’s nougat with a long cooking process in a steam boilers and with the use of high quality raw materials: hazelnut*. almond from Puglia, sicilian pistachio, Millefiori honey, fresh egg white.
